Your ticket includes unlimited tea and coffee and a snack from our bakery during the break. The price also includes a scarf that you will dye, and take home with you.
Come and spend the afternoon dyeing an indigo scarf using Shibori techniques with Jeanette Orrell.
During this workshop, you will experience dyeing an indigo scarf using beginners Shibori techniques. The afternoon will be an opportunity to learn more about this ancient craft and experience the mindfulness of creativity. This is a natural process, and there are so many amazing techniques and fun things to learn. Jeanette is a true expert and this will certainly be a very interesting afternoon.
Jeanette is an artist based in mid-Wales, her practice is rooted in drawing and weaves together a fine art practice with craft techniques.. She received an Arts Council of Wales award in 2017, which allowed her to travel to Japan and study traditional techniques of Katazome, Shibori and indigo dyeing. More recently, in 2021 she received an Arts Wales International grant to return to continue her study of indigo in Japan. She has been running indigo workshops alongside her daughter, Ellie, since 2018.
You are advised to wear dark/old clothing - we do also have aprons.
What till you learn?
You will learn about pattern making, natural dying, indigo and other natural dyes, and how to translate your ideas into reality. Jeanette is an expert - you can also pick her brains throughout the workshop.
